Our 360 Student Spotlight
Ashlyn Green, originally from Fort Smith, AR, is a freshman Art History major here at the University. She says her favorite place in Fort Smith is her grandma's house! To Ashlyn, the best part of being at the University of Arkansas so far is the amount of opportunities and things to do. Right now, she wants to get involved in the Razorbook Club. Her semester goals are to get good grades and make friends! When asked for the piece of advice she'd give her first-week self, Ashlyn said: "It takes time to get adjusted! Nothing gets fixed in a day." Her instagram is _ashnya_. (You can click her picture to go there!)
Jami's Resource of the Week
Have you tried tutoring yet? You can sign up for tutoring and search up sessions using the Penji app, but you can also use their website to do the same thing. It's midterm season, and tutoring can be the missing study link you've been looking for. Statistically, continuing-generation students (those whose parents/guardians have both gotten a four-year college degree) are more likely to utilize campus resources like tutoring. Struggling is a very normal part of learning—it means you are, in fact, learning! Don't hesitate to go to tutoring if you're interested. (Hey, you already pay for it.) You'll check in for the majority of tutoring sessions on the second floor of the CORD, in the Learning Commons (just outside 360's Classroom, CORD 215!)
"If you could choose one academic building on campus to have as your own personal house, which would you choose and why?"
Shoshiana Vang
"I'd choose the CORD because it looks like a castle! I love the lounge areas, courtyard, and terraces."
The CORD is full of opportunities for students. Not only do students take classes in the CORD, but there are also many job openings available. All the way from math tutors to Connection Desk Ambassadors, click this link to see the vast list of job opportunities at the Cord!
Eden Nalley
"I’d choose the CORD! I love its architecture, the perfect study spaces, and the fact that it has everything you could ever need under one roof. Plus, having a Starbucks and the back patio would be a big plus!"
If you are interested in getting to know more about the CORD, the Student Success Instagram is a great source to find special events and content exclusive to the CORD. Check out this link to get a quick tour of our amazing space and all that comes with it!
Alayna Elmore
"I'd choose the CORD, mainly because it is homey! The food court and lounge spaces are perfect for a home."
While many spaces in the CORD are perfect for lounging and studying, there are also options for room reservations. These rooms are great for university-related meetings, like RSO/mentor meetings. Oftentimes, these rooms are fully booked, so check out this link to see the guidelines for reserving a room.
