About Us
Voices of Equity was started this past year at Cornell and has since expanded across the country. Opening a chapter at the University of Arkansas will allow us to educate, inspire, and empower communities and future healthcare leaders on health equity issues through impactful content, storytelling, and actionable community-based initiatives. We will do this by pop-up workshops at churches, community centers, etc., about topics such as diabetes prevention, maternal health, nutrition on a budget, alcohol misuse and mental health, and the importance of health insurance. One of our main goals is to reduce barriers that lower income community members face. Other goals consist of empowering younger students to bridge long-term change, close prenatal care gaps and support low income new mothers, combat obesity, diabetes, and food insecurity, and improve knowledge, early intervention, and access for uninsured or underserved communities.
