About Us
Alpha Kappa Delta (AKD) International Sociology Honor Society was founded by U.S.C. sociologist, Dr. Emory S. Bogardus in 1920 to promote the scientific study of society by providing a forum for student and faculty discussion. The society has grown into an international organization dedicated to promoting, facilitating and recognizing academic scholarship in sociology. The Alpha Chapter of AKD established at the University of Arkansas Fayetteville was the first in the state.
