The Playground is an RSO dedicated to the development of student-written new plays. We meet twice a week, every other week to read aloud members' work and provide feedback to help them grow. On occasion, we will host workshops or guest speaker events during our meeting times.
Anyone who cares about theatre has a place in our organization. Our process calls for all types of people: writers, actors, directors, designers, and curious people whose goals lie elsewhere!
Supporting student playwrights doesn't mean we only hear their voices in the room. No matter who you are, we have a chair for you here.
In addition to our standard meetings, we also put on a New Play Reading every semester. These performances showcase multiple student-written and -produced 10-minute plays in a staged reading format. Any current undergraduate student is eligible to submit a play or audition as an actor. There are no requirements regarding your major(s)/minor(s) or past experience. We take our open door policy seriously!
The best place to keep an eye out for meetings or announcements is our GroupMe. Our Instagram posts most of those as well, but not everything!
If you're interested in getting involved in our staged readings, keep an eye on the aforementioned platforms. All of our announcements regarding play submissions and auditions can be found there.
