Welcome to the Honors College!

Welcome home, scholars! Whether you’re beginning your very first semester or entering your final year with graduation increasingly visible on the horizon, we’re delighted to have you back.

This Week in Honors will drop into your inbox every Monday straight from the Futures Hub. The planning professionals in the Hub are here to help you maximize the resources available on campus to create a college experience that launches you into a successful career.

To guide that work, we use the GREAT acronym to identify the experiences and opportunities that contribute to a rich and compelling honors story. Consider it a framework for making your time here not merely busy but meaningful. Explore the linked pages below to learn more, then read on for this week’s news, opportunities, and assorted matters of scholarly import.

Around Campus
There are so many great opportunities offered by colleges and programs across campus. We compile them each week and make it easy for you to see what’s happening beyond Gearhart, too.

Are you the first in your family to go to college? You are not alone! The First-Generation Mentoring Program, sponsored by the Honors College, was developed to help first-generation freshman and sophomore students navigate life on campus by pairing them with caring faculty. Learn more about the First-Generation Mentoring Program and apply here

The Writing Studio in the Student Success Center is hosting its Open House on Thursday, August 20, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in CORD 209. This is a great opportunity to meet their consultants and explore their space before the semester gets too busy. Enjoy refreshments, participate in activities, and learn how they support student writers across all disciplines and programs at the University of Arkansas. All students are welcome, bring some friends!
