This Week in Honors
Howdy, Honors Scholars! You don't need to waffle about your major, resume, grad school or pre-med requirements. We've got you covered with events all week, and we even have waffles covered with Waffle Night at Hotz. And then, cap off your week with an incredible lecture on a memorial shrine attached to St. Peter's Basilica from an expert in epigraphic poetry.
This 30-minute workshop with Jonathan Langley is an introduction to the tools you need to plan your academic career in honors at the U of A, whether you are planning one or multiple majors. Meets Honors Fellow planning and mapping requirement.
Join Louise Hancox for a brief overview of the basics you need to get your resume in shape. We will look at job resumes and academic resumes. Get your resume in shape for study abroad grants!
Have questions about Pre-Med requirements, or want to make sure that you’re on track for medical school? Jonathan Langley will discuss course timelines, planning for the MCAT, and more.
What began as a big project – “an endless project” – researching epigraphic poetry inscribed on churches and tombs, led Dennis Trout, professor of ancient Mediterranean studies at the University of Missouri, to a little annex building attached to the original church of St. Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City. In a lecture, hosted by the Honors College and Medieval and Renaissance Studies, Trout will open the door to the small memorial shrine and share what we can learn from it with respect to contemporary values and attitudes about the use of relics and the role the cult of the saints played in the lives of people between 500 CE and 1500 CE.
Futures Hub staff are coming to Hotz Hall! We’ll be set up across from the music room on Thursdays from 9 – 10 am. Stop by to chat, ask questions or grab coffee and a snack.
On Friday, October 13 from 12 - 1 pm, come eat lunch and learn more about the Clinton School program and the scholarships available to you as an Honors College student!
The Clinton School’s Master of Public Service degree is an action-oriented program focused on preparing students for the tough work of on-the-ground change.
In the interest of further supporting the institutional bond between the Clinton School and the University of Arkansas, we have an admission & scholarship relationship between the Clinton School's in-person MPS program and the University of Arkansas Honors College program.
For the August 2024 Masters of Public Service (MPS) in-person enrollment cohort, the Clinton School will offer automatic admission for up to 5 University of Arkansas Honors College students or alumni who apply with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50 in their undergraduate program and are in good standing with the Honors Program.
Qualified applicants will receive a minimum of half-tuition scholarships (and possibly more, depending on the strength of the application file).
