About Us

Our mission is to provide students entering fields in health, medicine, or helping professions with exposure to the ways various disciplines in the arts, humanities, and social sciences inform, intersect with, and apply to understandings of medicine and sciences, considering a variety of contexts; cultural, social, ethical, historical, and economic, and their relationship to healthcare.

Members Benefits

he Medical Humanities RSO offers students the chance to explore medicine beyond the sciences by engaging with history, literature, philosophy, art, and culture as they relate to healthcare. Members benefit from guest lectures, discussions with physicians and faculty (including connections to AWSOM), and interactive events that emphasize ethics, empathy, and whole-patient care. The club provides opportunities for professional development, networking with peers and healthcare providers, and leadership experience, while also creating space for reflection and creative expression. In short, it’s a community where future health professionals can prepare for their careers by learning to treat the person, not just the patient.
