Mission The Alpha chapter of the Phi Alpha Theta honors society is the founding chapter of a history honors society that provides a place for academic conversation, scholarship and conference presentation opportunities, and activities throughout the year. We are a professional society whose mission is to promote the study of history through the encouragement of research, good teaching, publication and the exchange of learning and ideas among historians. We seek to bring students and academics together for intellectual and social exchanges, which promote and assist historical research and publication by our members in a variety of ways. Phi Alpha Theta has over nine hundred chapters throughout all fifty states providing numerous networking and development opportunities.
Membership BenefitsStudents who join Phi Alpha Theta will have the opportunity to submit papers to nationally competitive awards, which feature cash prizes. They will also be able to participate in conferences, specifically directed towards college students, where they can present their research and meet others within the field. As for the local chapter, Phi Alpha Theta offers meetings during the semesters that allow students to connect with each other and participate in unique historical opportunities.
