Mission As members of the NAfME Collegiate Chapter of the University of Arkansas we have the opportunity to experience NAfME collegiate benefits, to share its responsibilities, and to increase interest, knowledge, and advancement in all areas of music education.It shall be the purpose of this organization to: make available to members opportunities for professional development; acquaint students with the privileges and responsibilities of the music education profession; participate in programs, demonstrations, discussions, workshops, and performances planned by this chapter, the state music educators association, and NAFME; assist the university in various projects throughout the year; and provide the opportunity to have contact with collegiate members from other colleges and universities; provide a link between our pre-professional education and the networking, professional development, and career leadership-building opportunities we cannot achieve through coursework alone.
Membership BenefitsMembership in the University of Arkansas Collegiate Chapter of NAfME provides students with access to professional development opportunities, participation in state and national conventions, and involvement in chapter activities. Members receive official NAfME publications (such as Music Educators Journal and Teaching Music), may subscribe to the Journal of Research in Music Education at a reduced cost, and have access to all optional services offered by NAfME. Graduating members also receive the opportunity for discounted professional membership in their first year of full-time teaching.
