Purpose & Mission

Purpose
1. It shall be the purpose of the “Mexican-American Student Association” to share the rich culture and history of Mexico with all students, create and provide a welcoming environment for discussion of topics regarding the Mexican experience, and serve as a platform to help connect Mexican, Mexican-American, and Chicano(a) students on campus.

Mission
2. It shall be the mission of the “Mexican-American Student Association” to:
a. Increase the visibility of Mexican affairs and to support and foster students, professors and researchers of the University of Arkansas that share our passion for Mexico.
b. Develop activities that enhance the knowledge of our country within the University's community, and that generate and advance conversations about socially relevant issues for the Mexican context.
c. Support prospective and incoming Mexican, Mexican-American, and Chicano(a) students interested in attending the University of Arkansas by connecting them to current members and alumni that may provide suggestions and guidance.
d. Promote cultural activities traditionally important to the community of Mexican, Mexican American, and Chicano(a) students or those otherwise interested in Mexican heritage and culture.

Membership Benefits
-Opportunity to learn more about the Hispanic/Latino culture specially related to Mexico.
-Support group for students wanting to get to know others and make friends.
-Offer a space to relax from class responsibilities and partake in cultural and bonding opportunities.
