Apply for a Social Security Number - August 25th

Need a social security number (SSN)? We are taking groups to go to the Social Security Office to get an SSN. You MUST have current employment or a signed job offer to apply for a social security number. A volunteer driver will pick up and drop off the group from ISS.

➡️ Day of your appointment:
Please arrive at 8:00 AM to Holcombe Hall. An international advisor will confirm your documents before the appointment. Make sure to bring something to study, read, or keep you busy, as you will have extra time at the office once you have spoken with a SSN officer.

Required Documents:

-An Employment Verification Letter printed on official UARK letterhead with an original signature in ink. (Download Employment Verification form and email to employer to fill out and print on University or UARK department letterhead. Signature must be signed with ink pen.) Letter must be stamped by an ISS advisor.

J-1 students need a sponsor letter (this is different from the employment/DSO letter.)

- The online SSN application form + and the online application reference number. The online application reference number must be printed out.

- Signed I-20 or DS-2019 – Original and a photocopy

- Passport – Original and a photocopy of ID page with name, date of birth + a copy of the passport cover.
