Hello Horticulture Club!
I sincerely hope you all had a wonderful break and are feeling ready for the semester ahead! Our council has been working hard to prepare for this spring, with a wonderful assortment of events, plant sales, and fun field trips all across Arkansas and beyond.
To begin, in two weeks we will be saying goodbye to our Horticulture Identification and Presentation Teams as they head to Louisville, Kentucky to represent our school at the Southern Region American Society for Horticultural Science competition, alongside universities from across the South. If you see them around campus, be sure to wish them the best of luck — we couldn’t be more proud!
In other exciting news, the Horticulture Club has gained access to a garden space on campus, located next to the Rosen Pest Center. In two weeks, we will be hosting a garden cleanup day to prepare the space and make room for everything we have planned for this spring and beyond. More details coming soon!
Looking ahead, we have moved our meetings from every other Monday to every other Tuesday, starting this coming week — January 20th will be our first meeting. The first 10 people to arrive at each meeting will receive a free plant, so be sure to get there by 5:30 PM!
At these meetings, we’ll be hosting exciting presentations, including a bonsai history and hands-on workshop, where you’ll take home your own bonsai, as well as a Guerrilla Gardening presentation with a seed bomb workshop, complete with native seed bombs to take home. Be sure to stay tuned to HogSync and GroupMe for updates and details.
We are so excited to see you all and enjoy the coming spring together. Thank you for being here — let’s get started!
