The sessions will be led by Lexi Applequist, a BMEG PhD candidate, COE Applied Innovation Fellow, and co-founder of Humimic Biosystems, a company that originated from university research. She'll share practical lessons from her own experience and help you evaluate the commercial potential of your research while better understanding what it takes to move an idea from the lab into the real world.
Whether you're curious about startups or simply interested in increasing the impact of your research, these sessions will provide a practical introduction to research commercialization. Participants will leave with a clearer understanding of whether their research may have commercial potential and what next steps they could take to explore it further.
The workshops are open to all College of Engineering graduate students. No prior experience with entrepreneurship or business is required.
